The Seal
You body forth the shape of things unseen
Working in flesh
A line of forebears labored
To express the heart’s desire
They could not speak,
Apprenticed to the slow and patient task
Of bending bone
The master artist and the masterpiece
In you their embodied longing can be seen
Gliding at ease in your well-
At home, at last
In the dark shape of your dream
